FCT: My govt listens, era of neglect over – Tinubu
by Seun Opejobi · Daily PostPresident Bola Tinubu has declared that his administration is one that listens, plans, and delivers its promises to Nigerians.
Tinubu made the remark while noting that the era of neglecting the Satellite Towns of Abuja are over.
He spoke during the commissioning of the Water Supply Network To Karu Satellite Town as part of projects to mark Tinubu’s third year anniversary.
According to Wike: “It’s with a deep sense of fulfilment and gratitude that I stand with you to commission the water supply network to Karu and its environs.
“Today we declare that the era of neglect of our Satellite Towns is officially over. When we launched the Renewed Hope Agenda, we made a sacred covenant with the Nigerian people, we promised that governance will no longer be a theatrical exercise confined to the board rooms of the city centres while our people in the periphery struggle for basic amenities.
“We promised a government that listens, plans, and crucially that delivers.
“Just a year ago when we commissioned the Abuja Greater Water Supply project, I stood b fore the nation and gave a directive, I said the metropolitan loops must not end in the elite districts, the must extend into the satellite towns where the heart beat of Abuja working population resides.
“When Wike brought the proposal for the Karu Water Supply project, we did not hesitate because we knew that water is life and denying our people clean water is denying them heart, dignity, and economic progress.
“To show our unwavering commitment, we did not allow the traditional shackles of bureaucratic delays to obstruct its onion. Because we paid on time, the contractor, CGC Nigeria worked on time and Today we are commissioning 194 km of second rail and tertary pipeline networks bringing treated, safe, and portable water to the door step of Karu, Orozo, Jikwoyi, Kuruduru, and surrounding communities.”
The president also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike for his leadership.
“Let me take a moment to comment the Mr Project of our administration, Wike. Leadership is not measured by the eloquence of television commentaries or the bitterness of empty but leadership is measured by tangible and verifiable impact on ordinary citizens,” he added.
