JSSSTU signs MoU with IN-SPACe for student satellite project

JSS Science and Technology University (JSSSTU), Mysuru, has signed a Framework Memorandum of Understanding with Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe), Department of Space, for executing a student satellite project named JNANAM, short for JSS Nanosatellite for Applications in Medicine.

According to a statement here JSSSTU registrar S.A. Dhanaraj, the MoU covers support from Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and its various centres for the students and faculty of JSSSTU in design, testing and seeking post launch support for the in-orbit satellite.

“The satellite is planned to be launched in the first quarter of the year 2025,” the statement said.

JNANAM has been described as a unique student satellite project from the institutions under JSS Mahavidyapeetha of Mysuru, that aims to conduct spectroscopy experiments in space to study the effects of microgravity and space radiations on drug samples. “Data from the experiment will help scientists and the pharma industry to develop more stable and suitable drugs for space travellers,” the statement added.
