BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman hit with same comparison during live show

by · Manchester Evening News

Strictly Come Dancing viewers all made the same comparison after hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman's latest appearance on the BBC dance contest. Fans tuned in on Saturday night (September 28) for the second live show of the popular series - which is marking its 20th anniversary this year.

Amongst the 15 celebrity contestants hoping to take home the Glitterball trophy is JLS star JB Gill, The Only Way Is Essex star Pete Wicks and Love Island star Tasha Ghouri.

Ahead of the performances, which will be open to the public vote for the first time this week, viewers were distracted by the presenting duo. Tess and Claudia appeared in contrasting green and pink outfits - which fans of the show compared to Wicked characters Glinda and Ephebe.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, as the show kicked off, @StrictlyOnSofa wrote: "Claudia and Tess Wicked tie-in #Strictly," as @eastendrose_ echoed: "omg tess and claudia channeling glinda and elphaba #strictly."

@fenhareI said: "Tess and claudia are giving glinda & elphaba #Strictly," whilst @Wee_Sio wrote: "Tess and Claudia in their 'Wicked' era and its not even musicals week #strictly #scd."

@slut4btd said: "Tess and Claudia feeling a bit of Elphaba and Glinda tonight?," as @miagoddardx agreed: "I love that Tess and Claudia have come dressed as Glinda and Elphaba. #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing."

However the show came under criticism just minutes after kicking off on Saturday as fans noticed a change to the format. Whilst usually there would be an introduction for the hosts, instead they appeared on stage straight away which prompted complains from viewers.
