Maya Henry, the ex-fiance of late One Direction star Liam Payne, is facing a torrent of online abuse after the 31-year-old singer was found dead at his hotel in Argentina on Wednesday night.

Liam tragically died after falling from the third floor of the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, and suffering "very serious injuries incompatible with life". Devastated fans gathered outside the building in the capital's leafy Palermo neighbourhood as police, firefighters and ambulances scoured the area.

His death comes amid a series of shocking claims made by his ex partner Maya Henry, 23, who began legal action against the star earlier this week. The model issued a cease and desist letter to Payne after accusing him of contacting her relentlessly through different iCloud accounts.

Lawyers for Henry told MailOnline: "Maya Henry issued a cease and desist last week to Liam Payne following the emergence of new and concerning information. he has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her. At this time, that is her only comment on the matter."

The influencer, who got engaged to Payne in August 2020 before the pair parted ways in 2022, is now being pumelled with foul abuse on social media, with some even blaming her for Liam's death. One person, commenting on an Instagram photo of the 23-year-old wrote: "Now he is dead. Are you happy?" another simply wrote: "Liam Payne is dead because of you." A third user wrote: "It was all your fault."

After speaking publicly about Liam over the last few weeks, Maya has yet to comment directly on the tragic news of his death. A source close to her said to the Daily Mail "Right now she is obviously in shock" and said she had only found out the heartbreaking update after a member of her team was contacted by a reporter.

Speaking on TikTok earlier this month, Maya made a series of bombshell claims against the singer, sending the internet into a frenzy. She said: “Ever since we broke up he will blow up my phone. It’s always from different phone numbers too so I never know where it is going to come from. He will create new icloud accounts to iMessage me. It’s always a damn new iCloud account. Each time I see a new one pop up on my phone I’m like ‘oh here we go again’. He will also email me.”

She later added: “There is no right and wrong time to speak out on these topics. It’s disturbing that this man is still doing these things to me. I am disgusted by this diabolical behaviour. This is beyond disgusting and flabbergasting to say the least."

Maya was at the time promoting her debut novel, 'Looking Forward'- an art-imitating-life romance about a girl who falls in love with a pop star.

Maya Henry accused Liam Payne of relentlessly contacting her

In a haunting revelation, Maya spoke of Liam’s mental struggle as he battled addiction, telling The Internet Is Dead podcast on Tuesday she felt his reaching out was "manipulation tactic". Maya told the hosts: "I always felt like it was so I’d continue to feel bad for him. He would always message me ever since we broke up, like ‘Oh, I’m not well.’ He would always play with death and be like, ‘Well, I’m gonna die. I’m not doing well."

She added: “When I announced my book, he did the same thing, he called my mum” and said ‘I think I’m not gonna be around much longer’”

She also claimed Liam was "preying on One Direction fans" because they're "loyal to him", which allowed him to get away with his alleged problematic behaciour. She claimed: "He's the one that is constantly doing weird sh*t, and also might I add, he literally said the reason he has all these people on his damn Snapchat, which he has had for years apparently, and messages, is he preys on One Direction fans because they're loyal to him.

"When you constantly enable someone they're never gonna realise what they've done is bad, or they do realise and they know they can get away with it, which is what has happened with him for so many years. Everything gets swept under the rug, everything gets hidden for him. I don't know who the hell's behind all of this but nothing ever comes out about him.

She added: "It's hard when you have these people jumping down your throat for speaking the truth on things that have happened, and quite frankly disgusting things that have happened and disgusting things that he's done."

In recent weeks, Maya also claimed Liam "never paid for anything" when the two were together, "talked sh*t about his bandmates" despite "popping up at their concerts" - and claims Liam told her Zayn Malik threw him against a wall during a heated altercation while he was in the band.

Liam had travelled to Argentina with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, 25, and planned to attend former bandmate Niall Horan's concert in Buenos Aires. Officers are believed to have been alerted to reports of a man acting aggressively at the CasaSur hotel, and that he may have been under the effect of drugs and alcohol. Shortly after, a body was found in an internal patio of the hotel.

It's believed that Liam fell from around 13 or 14 metres and suffered "very serious injuries incompatible with life." In a statement, the local ambulance manager told TN: "At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel."
