Snow is set to fall across parts of England tonight, weather maps show - this is a breaking story

England is bracing for a wintry blast, with weather maps showing snow set to fall across parts of the country.

According to the latest WXCharts maps, based on MetDesk data, counties including Northumberland, County Durham, Cumbria, North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire could see snow by 9pm this evening.

Snow has already been falling in North-West Scotland throughout the day and is expected to keep falling overnight.
