Nicola McLean takes savage swipe at Dean McCullough after I'm A Celebrity failures
Former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Nicola McLean said 'everyone was getting sick' of Dean McCullough being chosen for the trials
by Zara Woodcock · The MirrorI'm A Celebrity star Nicola McLean shared her thoughts on other stars finally having the chance to take part in the Bushtucker Trials.
Fans of the ITV series have been complaining after radio star Dean McCullough was constantly chosen to take part in the trials, leaving the other campmates waiting for an opportunity. Even host Ant and Dec made jokes about the star being one of the sole contestants going through the gruelling trials.
However, on Tuesday night, Loose Women star Jane Moore and Love Islander Maura Higgins were the ones chosen to collect the stars for their camp. Speaking about the refreshing change, former I'm A Celeb icon Nicola discussed her thoughts on the recent episode in her latest exclusive column.
"Her and Jane doing the trial. It was great that Dean was off them because we really did need to see other people doing them but that trial would have been my worse nightmare. Being underwater and in a confined space, no. I just don't think I could have done it. It was a shame Jane couldn't see the padlocks because that means they didn't get as many stars as I think they would have," she said.
She went on to speak about Maura's panic after seeing the tunnel filled with giant spiders. Nicola added: "I really did actually feel sorry for her. Usually, I laugh at the trials but we could see that she was physically shaking and you could see it was a massive fear. She really did well.
"And as I said, great it was not Dean because everyone, including Ant and Dec, were getting super sick of him, weren't they?" Jane and Maura were paired together for a trial that saw Maura, 32, left to crawl through cages to find hidden four letter words written on signs covered by sand - while Jane, 62, had to swim through an underwater obstacle course to find correlating word padlocks that she could unlock with the words the Love Island star told her.
Viewers watched on in awe as Maura took on her side of the trial - which saw her locked in cages with toads, snakes and lizards. But she beat herself up when she struggled to force herself into a cage filled with giant huntsman spiders. The reality star told hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly that she was unsure if she could enter the space.
