TV viewers were stunned as they saw a naked Phillip Schofield run into the water on Channel 5's Cast Away.

The former This Morning man, 62, had been on a deserted island off Madagascar for almost 10 days when he opted the shock viewers by skinny dipping. Filming himself, he positioned the camera to view his bare bum running into the water in darkness. However, fans weren't prepared for the scenes and quickly took to Twitter /X to share their shock.

One user gasped: "Sweet Jesus, I’ve just seen his a*** #PhilipSchofield," while another questioned: "Why's phillip schofield just ran across my tv naked may i ask? #phillipschofield" A third complained: "#PhillipSchofield #castaway ok nobody needed to see his naked arse," and a fourth mocked it was an audition for another show. "Oh Jesus. That’s his audition for the new series of Naked Jungle (formerly with Keith Chegwin) in the bag for Channel 5. #PhillipSchofield"

However, despite the complaints by some, others were keen to praise the former Dancing On Ice presenter. "So #PhillipSchofield just burned a list of all the toxic people in his life, in his last #castaway fire, and then ran naked into the #Madagascan sea. @EamonnHolmes will be spitting fire, as usual. But I hope @Schofe really did find himself on his island. The last is the past."

The scenes came near the end of the three-part series which marked Phillip's return to television following his ITV exit last year. While it was claimed he had resigned from his role following his relationship with a younger colleague, Phillip laid blame for his exit on his brother, Timothy.

Speaking on the final episode of Cast Away, he refused to name or acknowledge his younger sibling, who was sentenced to 12 years behind bars, having been found guilty of sexually abusing a teenage boy last year. Timothy was charged with 11 sexual offences involving a child between the years 2016 and 2019, with two of the offences being for sexual activity with a child.

Phillip claimed these crimes led to ITV letting him go. He claimed his agent told him the "publicity" his brother's actions had brought led to the decision. "That has nothing to do with me," he told the Cast Away camera. "Why would I be sacked for something someone else did. I’ve just been fired because of him. Because I was becoming more of a story than the programme. It was better for the show, better for the channel. And I agreed to say that I'd resigned because it would be neater for everybody."
