The I'm A Celebrity campmates lashed out at Dean McCullough after he left Melvin Odoom to carry the buckets of water by himself
by Zara Woodcock · The MirrorThe I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! campmates got fed up after Dean McCullough used an easy excuse to avoid helping Melvin Odoom with a chore.
On Thursday night, viewers tuned in to watch the stars get up to more gruelling tasks. One scene showed Melvin up and ready in the morning as he got ready to collect water for the camp. Meanwhile, radio star Dean decided to begin his morning by having a shower instead of helping his friend.
Dean told Melvin: "I’m gonna have a scrub and then I’ll do a couple, mate." The campmates took notice of his excuse and spoke up when they saw Melvin carrying his fourth water bucket of the morning. McFly singer Danny Jones asked: "Is Houdini with him?" before Jane Moore revealed Dean was having a shower.
Melvin joked: “Houdini does another trick again!” As Melvin continued carrying the heavy water, Loose Women presenter Jane encouraged him, telling him: “Come on Melvin, you’ve got to leave some for Dean to do!” As Barry McGuigan added: “Don’t hold your breath!"
Viewers were just as annoyed as the campmates and rushed to social media to complain about Dean's antics. One user said on X: "Nahhh. Why is Dean prioritising a shower over doing his camp chore with Melvin?" and another posted: "Another day, me and dean would have to fight, not helping out."
Meanwhile, Dean currently holds the record for the most trials of the new series, having done six already - with his seventh trial set to air on Thursday night. Host Ant McPartlin even called for viewers to stop voting for Dean just last week. He started his stint in the Australian jungle by screaming over the challenges and even calling it quits multiple times.
Dean left his campmates hungry as he failed to collect enough stars for camp. During his recent attempts, Dean has managed to double his stars and stop squealing over the creepy crawlies. Earlier this week, all campmates took part in the Fright Bus and viewers noticed Dean was notably composed and quiet.
It left many accusing the radio host of playing up to the cameras. A few fans took to social media to claim his behaviour was an attempt to get more screen time and get voted for yet another trial. One viewer wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Maybe Dean is being like that bc he wants to be voted for trials again since his airtime has decreased."
Another teased: "Because he's not doing the trials lately, Dean is kicking off to get the attention back on him…and maybe another trial." Whilst a third viewer wrote: "Dean is craving attention now he's not being voted for trials."
