Lisa Marie Presley said she formed an "insanely strong" bond with Michael Jackson during a trip to Las Vegas which meant she fell in love with the King of Pop while she was still married to her ex-husband Danny Keough.

The revelation is one of the numerous stories about the late singer, the only child of Elvis Presley, shared in the new memoir "From Here To The Great Unknown", which was completed by her daughter, Riley Keough. In the book, Lisa Marie said she grew close to Michael over time after having late night, intimate conversations with him.

She even revealed that the Thriller singer proposed to her in a Las Vegas hotel room before they had even shared their first kiss. The pair first met in Las Vegas when they were kids but reconnected in the 1990s, when Michael professed her love to her.

Lisa Marie was only meant to be in Vegas for two days, but after forming an "insanely strong" connection with Michael, she ended up staying eight days. She said her ex-husband even showed up in Las Vegas trying to find her, but she told him she was just "helping" the singer out.

She revealed that on her last night in Vegas, Michael told her he was in love with her, wanted to marry her and have children together. She wrote in her book: "Michael said, 'I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm completely in love with you. I want us to get married and for you to have my children.' I didn't say anything immediately, but then I said, 'I'm really flattered, I can't even talk.' By then, I felt I was in love with him too."

Lisa Marie said she then flew back to Los Angeles and told Danny the truth about her and Michael, after which her ex packed his bags and left. Lisa Marie, who was 26 at the time, and Michael, then 35, got married in the Dominican Republic on May 26, 1994 - less than three weeks after her divorce to Danny was finalised.

She declared she was "so happy" when they got married and added: "I've never been that happy again." They eventually divorced in 1996 after citing "irreconcilable differences" but remained friends after the divorce. Michael then married his second wife, Debbie Rowe. The couple had two children, Prince and Paris Jackson, and then welcomed Blanket Jackson via surrogate. Michael died aged 50 in 2009.

In her memoir, which went on sale earlier this week, Lisa Marie also revealed she was taking 80 opioid pills a day at the time her recreational drug use turned into an addiction. She said she became addicted to pills following the C-section birth of her twin daughters.

In the book, Lisa Marie said: "It escalated to 80 pills a day. It took more and more to get high, and I honestly don't know when your body decides it can't deal with it anymore. But it does decide at some point." Lisa's son Benjamin took his own life four years ago and she revealed she struggled to cope with his sudden death.

She wrote in her memoir: "It was an absolute matter of addiction, withdrawal in the big league. I just wanted to check out. It was too painful to be sober."

And her daughter Riley claimed her mother started to take opioids after the birth of her youngest daughters. She had started off taking them to relieve the pain following her c-section but it soon "progressed" into addiction.
