Inside Lady Louise Windsor's uni life - £8k halls, personal cleaner and boyfriend
Lady Louise Windsor, 21, stayed in student accommodation fit for royalty and, like her cousin Prince William, has found love while studying at St Andrews University
by Lydia Veljanovski · The MirrorFor most university students in the UK, the experience is one of Pot Noodles, warm beer, and overflowing bins in their less-than-luxury digs. However, not if you are Lady Louise Windsor. The 21-year-old granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II studies at the University of St Andrew, the Alma Mater of her cousin Prince William and his wife Princess Catherine of Wales.
The young royal who grew up in the lavish Bagshot Park in Surrey - alongside her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh - did not have to slum it when she started her English degree. Although she is thought to now live in a shared house with friends, she is reported to have lived at St Salvator's Hall in her first year of studies - and this place isn't your typical student accommodation.
The halls are affectionally known by students as Sallies and are fully catered with a weekly cleaner for the rooms. Students dine together for their meals, and there is also something called the High Table, where they can break bread with staff and important members of the academic community.
The university describes High Table as "a small group of students selected to attend a formal dinner with a prominent member of the community or academic staff. Everyone gets a chance to sit at High Table during the year, and this is a great way to meet other students and see your professors in a social setting."
The building itself opened in 1930, has a Hogwarts-style glamour with a stunning grand staircase and pristine lawn out the front. Sallies also happens to be where William and Kate previously lived, and it seems that Lady Windsor has followed in their footsteps by finding love at St Andrew’s University. The young royal, who is 16th in line to the throne, is said to have been dating fellow student Felix da Silva-Clamp.
The pair were snapped partying together and sources say Felix, whose dad is a solicitor, gets on well with Lady Louise's parents. It is understood he works part-time at an ice cream parlour in St Andrews while undertaking his studies. This down-to-earth attitude is no doubt part of what attracted Lady Louise to her boyfriend because back in 2022 the English student - who is often described as the Royal Family’s secret weapon - actually worked at a garden centre.
One customer said: "She is a really modest and sweet young woman who is polite and attentive to customers. She seemed to be loving the job. You'd never imagine the Queen's granddaughter would take on a role working behind a till." Another added: "The staff seemed to adore her. It's not every day you buy your begonias off a royal."
