Op Tapis: Unemployed man arrested in Limbang for alleged drug possession, abuse

LIMBANG (Jan 13): An unemployed was arrested for alleged drug possession and abuse during an Op Tapis operation at Kampung Meritam here on Sunday.

Limbang district police chief Supt Parum Niot said the 38-year-old suspect was detained in front of an unnumbered house in the village at about 4.40pm.

“A search on the suspect led to the seizure of a transparent plastic packet containing drugs believed to be syabu, weighing approximately 0.20 grammes,” he said in a statement.

He said preliminary urine tests on the suspect returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

Parum said checks revealed that the suspect has one previous record for drug possession under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952 and another under Section 15(1)(a) of the DDA 1952 for drug abuse.

He added that the suspect is believed to have been involved in drug abuse since early 2024.

The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the DDA 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the DDA 1952.
