KOTA KINABALU (Sept 9): The Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Bozhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce (China), Cambodian government agencies, and the Cambodia-China Hong Kong-Macao Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce to boost collaboration in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

The agreement was formalized at the 3rd China (Bozhou) RCEP Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Cooperation Conference, where SCCC president Datuk Frankie Liew led a delegation of 10 senior Sabah TCM practitioners.

“Sabah’s rich natural resources and tropical rainforests hold tremendous potential for herbal medicine development. Through international collaboration, we hope to unlock these resources and create greater economic benefits,” said Liew.

The conference attracted nearly 200 international guests and highlighted Bozhou’s role as one of China’s leading TCM hubs. Since 2023, Bozhou has hosted consecutive RCEP TCM Industry Cooperation Conferences, establishing the RCEP TCM Industry Cooperation Council with its permanent secretariat in the city.

Alongside SCCC’s agreement, several enterprises from Anhui signed partnerships with companies from Malaysia, Australia and Thailand, reinforcing Bozhou’s role as a global platform for TCM cooperation.

Liew expressed confidence that these initiatives will open new opportunities for Sabah and the wider RCEP region.
