KUCHING (Oct 6): Public Medicare Group (PMG) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) to enhance healthcare delivery across East and West Malaysia.

The MoU was signed at a ceremony here yesterday by PMG founder and executive chairman Dr Chieng King Chong and SJMC chief executive officer Bryan Lin, witnessed by PMG executive director Andrew Wong and SJMC director of business development, strategy and transformation Joanne Lee.

The agreement allows both parties to establish a seamless pathway for patients to access primary and tertiary care across East and West Malaysia, ensuring continuity of treatment and optimal patient outcomes.

In his speech, Dr Chieng said the partnership with SJMC will enable the establishment of a comprehensive and seamless referral pathway for their patients.

“Our goal is to create a bridge that links PMG’s primary care services with SJMC’s renowned expertise in secondary and tertiary care.

“This will ensure that our patients receive the right care at the right time, without any delays,” he said.

SJMC and PMG will also explore mutual benefits for patients, providing peace of mind using remote monitoring solutions for patients’ vital signs, and real-time analysis through SJMC’s Connected Care digital ecosystem.

“From early interventions to specialised treatment, this partnership will not only benefit our patients but also set a new benchmark for cooperative healthcare in Malaysia,” he added.

The MoU also aims to complement both organisations’ core services by keeping healthcare professionals upskilled and current on the latest medical practices, while empowering patients through community-based initiatives to promote health awareness and preventive care.

Lin in his address said the collaboration to combine their resources and expertise is a significant step towards creating a more equitable healthcare system in Malaysia.

“Last year, we sent a team of surgeons, and nurses, and collaborated with doctors, medical officers and nurses from Sarawak General Hospital and Sri Aman Hospital to perform 50 life-saving surgeries in underserved areas in Sarawak under the Global Surgery Initiative (GSI),” he said.

Lin also expressed excitement in strengthening SJMC’s ties with healthcare professionals in East Malaysia.

“And through partnerships like this with PNG, where we can exchange knowledge and ideas, and through our continued medical education training and general practitioner affiliation programme, we can take healthcare forward.”

The two parties will also develop a comprehensive combined loyalty programme through PMG’s existing Loyalty Card, bringing value to patients through a variety of rewards, discounts, and exclusive benefits such as complimentary airport transfers, fostering long-term customer relationships and promoting brand loyalty.

The partnership will also benefit healthcare professionals, with SJMC offering Continuing Medical Education (CME) opportunities across PMG branches nationwide to facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration.

SJMC is part of Asia One Healthcare – a leading healthcare provider in the region – with an impeccable reputation as one of Malaysia’s most trusted private medical centres.

PMG is one of the largest local primary healthcare providers in Malaysia, and offers a comprehensive range of primary healthcare services, including retail pharmacies, medical clinics, and dental clinics.
