KUCHING (Oct 5): Some 160 participants attended the Normah Medical Specialist Centre’s (NMSC) 16th Annual Nursing Conference at the medical centre here today.

NMSC nursing director Nadzrah Basri in her welcoming speech said this year’s conference was focused on patient-centred care.

“Throughout this conference, we will explore important topics such as infection prevention, evidence-based practicesand the continuous professional development of our staff.

“By aligning our strategies with international safety standards, we aim to improve patient outcomes, enhance the quality of care and uphold the highest ethical standards in our profession.

“We are also committed to refining our approach to ensure every patient receives care that is not only effective but also deeply personalised and respectful of their individual needs,” she said.

Nadzrah added one of the highlights of the conference was a special session on the impact of stress on nurses’ work behaviour.

She said as leaders in healthcare, nurses must prioritise the well-being of their teams, recognising that a supportive and resilient work environment is fundamental to delivering exceptional care.

She expressed her gratitude to the organising committee for their hard work in making the conference a success and thanked the speakers for sharing their invaluable knowledge and insights.

Nadzrah also thanked each participant for their dedicated commitment to the conference, and expressed confidence the insights and collaborations from this conference would have a lasting impact on practices and patient care.

Meanwhile, the conference attracted a diverse group of participants, including nursing leaders, nurse educators and nurses from both the public and private healthcare sectors from Indonesia, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Simunjan, Sri Aman and Kuching.
