KUCHING (Dec 23): Sarawak residents celebrating Christmas should be prepared for a few wet surprises, as the weather is expected to bring isolated showers and thunderstorms across the state over the festive period.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), Wednesday (Dec 24) will start with isolated rain in the morning, followed by inland thunderstorms in the afternoon, and more scattered showers in the evening.

Temperatures will range between 23°C and 32°C.

Christmas Day itself (Dec 25) will follow a similar pattern, with morning showers, afternoon thunderstorms over inland areas, and evening rain. Temperatures are expected to stay between 23°C and 32°C.

Frequent showers and thunderstorms are typical for Sarawak this time of year. Anyone planning to visit family or enjoy outdoor festivities is advised to carry an umbrella or raincoat to stay dry.
