59 arrested in Kuching drug crackdown under Ops Tapis Khas

Two individuals suspected of drug abuse who were arrested by the police during a raid.

KUCHING (Dec 15): Police arrested 59 individuals for various drug-related offences during Ops Tapis Khas conducted here from Dec 6 to 14.

Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said two individuals were arrested under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, nine under Section 12(2), and the remaining 48 under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.

“Several types of drugs were successfully seized throughout the operation, including 23.84 grammes of methamphetamine and 0.90 grammes of Erimin 5 pills. The total estimated value of the seized drugs is RM2,682.40,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Alexson said the success of the operation was the result of continuous intelligence efforts and cooperation from the public, adding that police would not compromise with any party involved in drug-related activities.

He stressed that possessing, distributing or protecting drug-related activities are serious offences under the law.
