Google is supporting water resilience in Chile.

Google is committed to replenishing more water than we consume, and improving watershed health in the communities we call home. In 2025, our water stewardship efforts replenished more water to the Maipo River Basin than was consumed at our Quilicura, Chile data center.

To further support the Maipo — a vital watershed supplying Santiago — Google is contributing $1.2 million to Aguas Andinas. This will help fund the lining of a 2.5-kilometer section of the Unidos de Buin Canal Association’s main irrigation canal.

Lining the canal with concrete will reduce water loss from seepage, ensuring a greater volume remains available for local agricultural irrigation. The infrastructure upgrades will also help reduce sedimentation and erosion, improving water quality. Over its lifespan, the project is estimated to save up to 7.4 million cubic meters (1.9 billion gallons) of water annually.
