Weekly poll results: pricing will decide the fate of the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max
by Peter · GSMArena.comLast week, we asked you for your thoughts on Xiaomi’s 18 Pro series in light of the news that the series is going global. Xiaomi is still mum on the details, but one thing is clear – the price will determine how popular these two phones become.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max has the upper hand – while a lot of people are price sensitive, quite a few have already committed to getting one based on what they’ve seen so far. Around 5% of voters plan to hold out for an Ultra model down the line, but they are in the minority.
Besides the Ultra, the vivo X500 Pro Max emerged as a competitor in the comments. The X500 series is expected to launch in Europe later this month. There were some Motorola fans too, excited by the pending arrival of the Signature 27 (though Moto hasn’t even fully unveiled the phone yet). There was some debate over the Galaxy S27 Ultra too, based on what rumors have revealed so far.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro is popular with fans of smaller phones, of course. And we didn’t see any complaints about the screen size going up to 6.4” – as we explained last week, thinner bezels mean that the phone is almost the same size as the Xiaomi 17.
The small Pro has more to prove – fewer people have already decided to buy one and the number of voters concerned about its price was bigger. In terms of competitors, the vivo X500 Pro came up.
Smartphone prices – and the prices of any electronic devices, really – are still going up, especially for configurations with more memory. This has caused around 12% or so of voters to give up on the idea of buying a new phone anytime soon. Analysts aren’t too hopeful for 2027, so these people may have to skip a couple of generations.
