Chicago P.D.” star LaRoyce Hawkins is exiting the long-running NBC drama, Variety has confirmed with sources.

Hawkins, who has been with the show since it launched in the role of Officer Kevin Atwater, will depart during the upcoming 14th season. Exactly how his character will exit the series is being kept under wraps, but sources say it will happen in the early part of the season. Hawkins has also played Atwater in various crossovers with the other “One Chicago” shows on NBC.

In addition to his work in “Chicago PD,” Hawkins has appeared in series like “Ironheart” for Disney+ and Marvel as well as “Power Book IV: Force” and “Ballers,” among others.

All three “One Chicago” shows — “Chicago P.D.,” “Chicago Fire,” and “Chicago Med” — scored early renewals this year at NBC. That brings “Chicago Fire” to its 15th season, “Chicago PD” to its 14th, and “Chicago Med” to its 12th. All three shows are slated to return Oct. 7 for the 2026-2027 broadcast season.

All three shows remain ratings stalwarts on the NBC primetime lineup, even this late in their runs. They continue to power NBC’s Wednesday night schedule, airing back-to-back. On March 4, NBC aired another “One Chicago” crossover event, with all three shows hitting season highs in total viewers as a result.

“Chicago PD” stars Jason Beghe, Patrick John Flueger, Marina Squerciati, Benjamin Levy Aguilar, Amy Morton, and Arienne Mandi. It is produced by Universal Television in association with Wolf Entertainment. Dick Wolf, Peter Jankowski, and Anastasia Puglisi executive produce along with Gwen Sigan, Chad Saxton, Rebecca McGill, Gavin Harris, and Beghe.

Deadline first reported Hawkins’ exit.
