“I arrived 15 minutes before MOH ambulance” – Uncle Kentang Shares Heartbreak Over Dialysis Patient’s Death

by · WORLD OF BUZZ

Malaysian philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, more famously known as Uncle Kentang, is known for assisting the underprivileged in emergency situations by providing ambulance services. Unfortunately, there’s only so much he can do.

He recently took to his Facebook page to share how a dialysis patient had passed away while waiting for an ambulance.

The philanthropist wrote, “A call was made to me. The family had called 999. What transpired, I do not know. I will ask Dr Ummal (the Head of Emergency Response at Kuala Lumpur Hospital). I was in Puchong having brunch. I told the caller that I would come and see. I drove our ambulance from Puchong, and when we reached Kenanga Point, no other ambulance had arrived.”

“We rushed to the 11th floor. But it was too late. I declared that the patient had passed away to the deceased’s wife. 15 minutes later, (another) ambulance arrived. They got a flat line, too. A call was made to the Ministry of Health (MOH) for the issuing of a white tag,” he added.

There’s only so much one man can do

Uncle Kentang went on to explain the nature of his field, where, despite his best efforts, he couldn’t save everyone.

“We did our best, but our best does not guarantee success. Sometimes, there will be disappointment. But that is our work. We win some, and we lose some,” he stated.

“It was an obvious death situation. Members of the family requested me to do CPR. I told them it was obvious that he had already passed away. No amount of CPR will revive him. There were cries, sobs and tears all around. I walked away with a heavy heart. Rest in peace, uncle. May you be with God in heaven. To the family members, I am sorry. I did my best. God loves him, and God has decided to bring him to rest beside God,” revealed the philanthropist.
