Man charged with murder of Noreen Daly in Waterford

A 33-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Noreen Daly in Co Waterford.

Ms Daly's body was discovered at her home at Ardsallagh near Youghal Bridge on Monday afternoon.

The 81-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Finn Yowell, with an address at Old School House, Ticknock, Co Waterford, was brought before Carrick-on-Suir District Court this morning charged with her murder.

Detective Garda Stephen Condon of Dungarvan Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.

The court was told that the accused made no reply when the charge was put to him.

Noreen Daly was found dead at her home in Co Waterford

There was no application for bail as the district court does not have the jurisdiction to grant such an application.

Solicitor Ken Cunningham requested that his client be both medically and psychologically assessed.

Judge John O'Leary granted this request and remanded Mr Yowell in custody to appear before Clonmel District Court next Tuesday.
