Shingles vaccination programme likely in 2027
by Fergal Bowers, https://www.facebook.com/rtenews/ · RTE.ieA shingles vaccination programme is expected to start next year on a phased basis, firstly for over-65s, starting with those who are immunocompromised.
It is expected to gradually expand, over time, to all over 65s.
Currently for access to the vaccine, which involves two separate injections apart, it costs around €450.
It is understood the pharmaceutical company which makes the shingles vaccine here sent a pricing proposal to the Department of Health yesterday and it is being assessed.
More details on any roll-out date next year and the number of people who may be initially eligible may come available at the Government health budget briefing tomorrow.
