First stage of single-use vape ban bill brought to Dáil

Minister of State at the Department Health Jennifer Murnane O'Connor introduced the Public Health (Single-Use Vapes) Bill 2025 to the chamber this afternoon on behalf of Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill.
The Fianna Fáil TD said the rate of children using vapes has increased, with their impact on children's health of huge concern.
She added that the environmental damage disposed devices was also a huge problem.
Under the bill, colours and imagery on packaging as well as flavours available will be restricted.
It would also ban devices resembling or functioning as other products such as toys and games.
"Ireland has a long and proud history of tackling the public health issues caused by tobacco, dating back to our world-famous indoor smoking ban, and this bill will continue that tradition," Ms Murnane O'Connor told the Dáil.
