Seven men have been charged with violent disorder in relation to a disturbance at a property on Ormond Quay in Dublin over two years ago.

All seven, who are from Dublin, were remanded on bail to appear again next month for service of the book of evidence.

Six of the seven appeared before the Dublin District Court this morning charged in connection with an investigation by the Special Detective Unit into a violent disturbance at a property on Ormond Quay on 30 August 2024.

Gardaí said that several people were taken from the scene to the Mater Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The seven charged are 49-year-old Conor Hughes from Lakelands Close, Kilmacud, 37-year-old Daren Fox from Beechpark, Cabinteely, 43-year-old Keith Hogan from Coolevin in Ballybrack, 45-year-old Conor Mills from Queen Street in Dublin 7 and 40-year-old Dean Shannon from St Kevin's Villas in Sallynoggin, whom the court was told was not working and would apply for legal aid.

Detective Garda Martin Cannon of the Special Detective Unit gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution in relation to the sixth man Darren Weldon from the New Maltings in Dublin 8.

He told the court the 55-year-old made no reply to the charge.

The seventh accused, 32-year-old Rhys Kane from Achill Road in Ballybrack, did not appear today as the court was told he had suffered a bereavement.

All seven men are facing the same charge of violent disorder at Ormond Quay on Friday 30 August 2024.

All were remanded on bail to appear again in court on 27 November for service of the book of evidence, and the court was told that the DPP had directed trial on indictment, which means it will be dealt with at the higher Circuit Criminal Court.
