Valley Children’s Hospital issued a WARN notice of impending permanent layoffs as it transitions its food services to Thomas Cuisine, an Idaho-based company that provides customized dining services for healthcare facilities, senior living facilities, corporate offices and schools.

But a Valley Children’s spokesperson said members of its food services team are expected to transition to Thomas Cuisine, with no job elimination planned.

“Valley Children’s is partnering with Thomas Cuisine to elevate the role food plays in care — bringing greater culinary expertise, enhanced nutritional offerings and more personalized dining experiences for patients, families, doctors and staff,” spokesperson Zara Arboleda said.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification is a formal, 60-day advance notice required by law for employers before major layoffs, plant closings, or relocations.

Thomas provides cuisine and clinical nutrition services for regional healthcare networks and medical centers across the country including Community Regional Medical Center and Clovis Community Medical Center, and known for its fresh, made from scratch offerings.
