Udupi: Patient jumps from private hospital facade in Manipal, rescued

Udupi, Sep 30: An in-patient admitted to Kasturba Hospital in Manipal reportedly broke through the ward’s safety measures, including a glass window and the protective external facade, on Wednesday afternoon, causing panic among patients and visitors.

The patient then moved onto the building’s exterior. An official statement from the hospital administration read, "The patient subsequently jumped from the facade and sustained injuries. Hospital security personnel immediately reached the spot, rescued the patient, and shifted them for emergency medical care."

"The patient is currently stable and continues to be under the care of doctors at the hospital," the statement added.

The hospital management confirmed that the matter has been intimated to the authorities as per statutory requirements, and they are extending full cooperation.

Citing the patient’s privacy, the hospital declined to share further details regarding the incident.
