Late Waterford goal denies Kildare Ladies victory
Lidl National League clash ends with points being shared
by Tommy Callaghan · Leinster LeaderKildare Ladies travelled to Waterford this afternoon for another vital clash in the Lidl National League Division 1 and after gaining an excellent win last time out, against Meath, they were certainly in no mood to give way to Waterford despite the Munster side flying in the division.
Level after the first quarter at 0-2 apiece, Kildare stepped up a gear hitting three points in a row and as half-time approached that lead was put to four points. However before the long whistle Ciara Wheeler found the Waterford net as Kildare entered the dressing rooms leading 0-8 to 0-4.
As expected Waterford threw everything at Kildare but The Lilies still led by four on 50 minutes, 1-12, to 1-8, that visitors goal coming from Kellyann Hogan early in the second half.
With two minutrs left on the clock The Lilies held a three point lead. However on 59 minutes Aine O'Neill found the Kildare net to brin the sides level and that is how it stood, a brilliant point for The Lilies but so, so close to bring off an shock win over Waterfirld.
Final score: Wexford 2-10 Kildare 1-13.
