'A truly special person' - Tributes paid following sad and sudden death of beloved Kildare man
Tony (The Count) Roche passed away on Friday
by Lili Lonergan · Leinster LeaderTributes have poured in following the sad and sudden death of Tony (The Count) Roche, late of Barrettstown Lawns, Newbridge, Kildare and Suncroft, Kildare.
Tony was a very proud retired member of the Irish Defence Forces, 3rd Battalion, The Curragh Camp.
Tony passed away on Friday, November 22, at his beloved home. He is predeceased by his parents Peg and Pat.
Beloved husband of Veronica, Tony will be sadly missed by his wife, his daughter Jeanette, son Anthony, daughter in law Ruth, grandchildren TJ and Sienna, brother Patsy, brothers and sisters in law, aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, relatives, his wonderful neighbours, a wide circle of friends and his work colleagues past and present.
Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Tony, with one mourner writing,
"Sincere condolences to Veronica and family on the untimely death of Tony. It was a pleasure to serve with the Count in the 3BN during the 70s and 80s.He was professional ,totally reliable and a pleasure to work with. May he rest in peace."
Another wrote,
"Sincere condolences to Veronica , Anthony, Janette the Roche and Farrell families at this very sad time. May Tony gentle soul rest in peace. He was one of life’s true gentleman."
While another wrote,
"Deepest sympathies to Jen, Veronica, Anthony and children on the passing of their lovely dad, husband and grandad. A true character, a gentleman, a welcoming, kind, caring soul full of life and chats. His spirited nature will continue to live through you all. Carry him in your hearts forever."
Funeral Arrangements
Reposing at Glennons Funeral Home, 32 Main Street, Newbridge, from 5pm today (Wednesday, November 27) concluding with rosary at 7pm.
Removal on Thursday morning to arrive at The Dominican College Church, Newbridge, for requiem mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in Holy Cross Cemetery, Suncroft.
