Snow in the UK

Snow given '80 per cent chance' of hitting these UK areas very soon

by · Birmingham Live

Snow could fall from UK skies very soon - with forecasters predicting up to an 80 per cent likelihood of some areas being covered by blizzards. Maps by WX Charts suggest wintry scenes are on their way.

The Highlands and Scottish boarders are most likely to see flakes fall from Monday, November 4. The northern Pennines in England could also get a dusting.

It comes after another weather map showed a -5C blast is just days away from arriving in Britain. James Madden of Exacta Weather said it will get cooler this week before "wintry weather" sweeps across northern areas later this week.

He said: "An additional area of low pressure and rather unsettled features looks to interfere with this regime from, in and around Thursday or Friday, and this could bring more in the way of some heavy showers and potentially gusty to strong winds. This particularly across parts of Scotland and Ireland and in western parts of the UK once again to begin with.

"Additionally, this will also pave the way for some much cooler to even colder conditions for the time of the year from the north as we head into next weekend. This should also happen to coincide with some further stormy conditions in this period to bring some wintry weather across the far north and Scotland at the very least during the weekend and early next week."

The Met Office is not currently predicting any snow in its long-range forecasts. But the weather service said it did expect more "brisk" weather compared to recent days, as well as frost and fog.
