Xiaomi 15T Global Launch Event Confirmed — Two Models, Leica & More

The global launch date of the Xiaomi 15T series has been officially confirmed. The new mid-level flagships will debut on September 24th. Although the company hasn’t explicitly revealed it, the lineup could include the standard Xiaomi 15T and Xiaomi 15T Pro. These succeed the Xiaomi 14T lineup, which also debuted in September last year. The company is going with the ‘Far closer” tagline, which could be hinting at impressive zoom capabilities.

Xiaomi 15T gets a global launch date

The post on X hints that the Xiaomi 15T launch event could happen in Munich, Germany. This also confirms that Xiaomi is continuing the Leica branding. The T-series flagships from Xiaomi are usually slightly cheaper than the traditional numbered models (for example, the Xiaomi 15, 15 Ultra). However, there will be some hardware tradeoffs.

The vanilla Xiaomi 15T is rumored to get the MediaTek Dimensity 8400, while the 15T Pro may feature a more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ SoC. For comparison, the Xiaomi 15 series shipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, while the Xiaomi 15S Pro has the in-house Xring 01. We’ve recently heard rumors about the development of the Xring 02.

The phones will feature Leica-tuned optics

Xiaomi 15T series could feature a bigger 6.83-inch display, which is a jump from the 6.67-inch size on the 14T series. The phone could use OLED panels paired with a higher refresh rate. The base storage will continue to be 256GB. Powering the phones is a 5,500mAh cell with 67W fast charging on the vanilla 15T and 90W on the Pro.

To prevent any water and dust-related damage, there will be an IP69 rating on board. Despite the slightly affordable pricing, the phones will continue to use Leica-powered optics for a superior camera experience. The Xiaomi 15T series may get a triple camera system, including a 50MP main, a 13MP ultra-wide, and a 50MP telephoto. However, the Xiaomi 15T Pro will get 5x zoom support. We may see a 32MP lens on the front of both models for selfie needs.

Leaks claim the Xiaomi 15T will have a starting price of €649 (~$763) and €799 (~$939) for the Xiaomi 15T Pro. We’ll know for sure if these prices are legit on the day of launch. The company may reveal region-specific availability during the announcement.
