SNHD hosts back-to-school vaccination clinics throughout Las Vegas Valley
by Spencer Levering / Las Vegas Review-Journal · Las Vegas Review-JournalWith the start of school less than one month away, the Southern Nevada Health District is encouraging students to get vaccinated to stay healthy.
The health district will host several clinics across the Las Vegas Valley for students entering kindergarten, seventh grade and 12th grade in the lead-up to the first day of school on Aug. 10, the district announced in a press release Wednesday.
“Vaccinations help protect children from serious illness and reduce the spread of disease in schools and communities,” Cassius Lockett, district health officer for the health district, said in the release. “Scheduling appointments early can help families avoid the back-to-school rush and ensure students are ready for the first day of class.”
Vaccines are administered by appointment only, with limited same-day availability, the health district said. Families can schedule an immunization clinic appointment at www.snhd.info/bts or by calling 702-759-0850.
A parent or guardian must be present for children under 18, and parents should bring their child’s immunization records to the appointment, the health district said.
