Rainfall leads to water rescue in Henderson

Henderson firefighters performed a water rescue of a motorist on Monday afternoon as rain swept through the city.

The city of Henderson said in an email that the Henderson Fire Department’s technical rescue team removed one person from a stalled vehicle in the area of Moonwalk Terrace and East Paradise Hills Drive, near Interstate 11. The vehicle was in two feet of standing water. No injuries were reported.

Julie Phillipson of the National Weather Service’s Las Vegas office said some thunderstorms moved through the Henderson and Boulder City areas Monday with one that tracked over the Henderson Executive Airport. A flash flood watch is in effect for the Colorado River Valley and toward Lake Havasu.

Phillipson said the weather service was not aware of other water rescues in the area.

An online rainfall gauges map available via the Regional Flood Control District website showed approximately 0.51 inches of rain falling in a rural area east of Henderson. About 0.28 inches of rain fell in the Boulder City area, acccording to the website.
