6 arrested after red paint dumped on king's Budget Day route in The Hague

On Tuesday, hours before King Willem-Alexander is set to deliver the Budget Day speech, activists threw red paint on the Lange Voorhout in the Hague, where he is supposed to ride to deliver the presentation.

Six people dressed in orange reportedly dumped the pain on the procession route, after which police arrested them.

According to the ANP, witnesses said that everything happened very quickly. Several men with jerrycans, including one in a wheelchair, reportedly showed up and started poring the paint. They kept pouring the red paint onto the road until the officers intervened.

Bystanders argued with the shouting protesters as they were being taken away, ANP reported.
