Rotterdam man remains in custody over death of singer S10’s twin brother
The 36-year-old suspect, Arny R. from Rotterdam, will remain in custody on suspicion of involvement in the death of Emiel den Hollander, the twin brother of singer S10, the Haarlem court has ruled.
During a court hearing on Monday, R. rejected claims that he was at the Osdorper Ban apartment in Amsterdam on April 16. He says he did not know the deceased man and had never been in that apartment. According to prosecutors, the 24-year-old victim was being held there against his will and ultimately jumped from a fourth-floor balcony because he felt there was no other way out.
After landing on a garage roof, Emiel sustained life-threatening injuries and passed away on June 19. The defense maintains that the victim entered the apartment of his own free will and accidentally slipped or fell from the balcony, a claim the court did not accept. The case will return to court for another preliminary hearing on March 19 in Alkmaar.
The Public Prosecution Service (OM) suspects several individuals of involvement in Emiel’s fall and death. Prosecutors are treating the case as a combination of (attempted) manslaughter and unlawful deprivation of liberty resulting in death.
Further arrests were made in and after June, as police detained more suspects believed to be connected to the alleged kidnapping and the events that led to his fall. Four additional suspects are still being held, and prosecutors say the investigation should be concluded within the coming months.
