Casualty star Sammy Dobson celebrated a personal soap milestone.

The star, who plays Nicole Piper on the BBC medical soap, announced on Instagram that she’s playing the character for a whole year.

And Casualty newcomer Adesuwa Oni – who plays Ngozi – helped her celebrate the milestone with a box of chocolates.

Sammy shared a picture of a box of Lindt Lindor chocolates with a note reading: ‘Happy 1st year anniversary of Casualty Sammy!

‘Huge love, your work wife, Adesuwa.’

Sammy joined the long running medical drama soap earlier this year.

But she’s had plenty of other roles before that, including her role as Sarah Young in Byker Grove between 2001 and 2005.

‘Joining Casualty has felt like a dream,’ she said.

‘To become a piece of such a well-regarded part of BBC history is incredible, but to get there and find everyone to be so genuinely lovely, welcoming, and committed to making the best show possible is just wonderful.’

Her other TV roles include parts in Boy Meets Girl, Inspector George Gently and War.

Sammy also appeared alongside pop legend Peter Andre in an Iceland advertisement in 2016.

The BBC One medical drama welcomed a variety of new faces to the Holby ED including Ngozi, an Emergency Department nurse who has recently moved to the UK from Nigeria.

On Instagram the show welcomed Oni to the cast, sharing her promo photo and writing: ‘Welcome to #Casualty, @theadesuwaoni Meet the E.D’s newest recruit, Ngozi.’
