Netherlands still without enough ICU beds, now fewer than during Covid pandemic
The Netherlands is still short of its targeted intensive care capacity, with hospitals operating below pandemic-era levels, while intensive care physician Diederik Gommers warned in a parliamentary Covid inquiry that future health measures must never again result in patients dying alone. The developments come as lawmakers continue debating whether ICU staffing and bed numbers can be structurally expanded.
