Species threatened by compounding risks from pollution, dams, water extraction, agriculture and more

Nearly a quarter of freshwater animals face extinction due to pollution, dams, climate change, and other threats.

The tally, published in the journal Nature, is the first that time researchers have analyzed the global risk to freshwater species.
