Palpu Pushpangadan and his colleague S. Rajasekharan entered the forests of the Agastya hills in Thiruvananthapuram in 1987 as ethnobiologists, tasked with documenting the region’s rich biodiversity under the All India Coordinated Research Project on Ethnobiology (AICRPE).
