DND Report: Pakistan has once again categorically informed the Afghan Taliban that Islamabad will not engage in any talks on a ceasefire with Kabul unless the prerequisites set by Pakistan are met. Pakistan’s position is clear: talks or a ceasefire are only possible if the Afghan Taliban regime stops supporting and sending terrorists into Pakistan.

According to sources, a request for talks and a ceasefire was conveyed by the Afghan Taliban through China during a diplomatic engagement. Sources stated that Pakistan agreed to routine trilateral engagements with China and the Afghan Taliban, as Beijing’s concerns have increased over growing terrorism in Afghanistan. China is seeking a regional consensus to build increased pressure on Afghan authorities to fulfill their commitments.

A retired diplomat, when asked to comment by DND News Agency on the trilateral engagement, stated that Pakistan has consistently maintained that a stable and friendly Afghanistan remains in its core interest. At no point has Pakistan indicated any intent to sever diplomatic ties. However, he noted that matters concerning Gazab-ul-Haq remain distinct and will be pursued independently.

When asked about prerequisites for any meaningful ceasefire talks with Kabul, he said that Pakistan demands Afghanistan “walk the talk” and undertake concrete, verifiable actions, including eliminating safe havens for terrorists, ending cross-border terrorism, and prioritizing governance and sustainable development within Afghanistan.

It is pertinent to mention that terrorism originating from Afghanistan continues. On March 30, 2026, thirteen khwarij (the official term used for TTP terrorists) belonging to Indian proxy Fitna al-Khwarij were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

Following reports of their presence, an intelligence-based operation was conducted by security forces in the general area of Bara, Khyber District. During the operation, troops effectively engaged the militants’ location, and after an intense exchange of fire, ten khwarij were killed. Another intelligence-based operation was carried out in Bannu District, where three militants were neutralized in the ensuing firefight.

International concerns have also increased over the presence of global terrorist groups in Afghanistan and alleged funding by the Afghan Taliban to such organizations. According to the Australian journal The Conversation, the Taliban integrated armed groups into state structures after taking control of Afghanistan. The report further noted that TTP aims to impose the Taliban’s political system in Pakistan and has been allowed to operate from Afghan soil.

According to experts, the Afghan Taliban are facilitating terrorist organizations to sustain their rule, while Pakistan has repeatedly presented evidence of terrorism originating from Afghan territory, which has gained acknowledgment at the international level.
