On June 10 Pakistan killed 36 terrorists inside Afghanistan through air strikes. Information Minister of Pakistan Attaullah Tarar stated that recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan, including terrorist attack on Federal Constabulary Post in Musa Dara on 9 June 2026, Vehicle Borne Suicide Attacks on a Military Post in North Waziristan on 2 June 2026 and Police Station in Bannu on 9 May 2026, compelled Pakistan to conduct precise and calibrated strikes along Pakistan Afghanistan Border areas on hideouts and safe havens of masterminds and planners belonging to Fitna Al Khwarij (TTP).
Information Minister of Pakistan Attaullah Tarar voiced what has become the greatest challenge for Pakistan that Afghan Taliban continue to fund, host, train and use terrorists against Pakistan that have different brand names. Additionally, terrorists as usual use their families as human shields while in different areas, locals by fears or by bribe provide them information and housing.
Pakistan had, in the past, launched intelligence-based precision strikes on terrorist camps (March-April 2026) inside Afghanistan and achieved its objectives by eliminating hundreds of TTP and BLA terrorists. However, certain friendly countries intervened and requested Pakistan to exercise restraint, assuring Islamabad that the Afghan Taliban would not support the TTP or BLA and that terrorist attacks inside Pakistan would be stopped. Consequently, Pakistan halted its air campaign against terrorist targets. Despite these assurances, attacks on Pakistani soil continued, rather increased. When the friendly countries were approached to fulfill their commitments, they expressed their inability to do so, stating that the Afghan Taliban denied any involvement in the attacks. The decision to stop the air campaigns cost Pakistan heavily, resulting in significant casualties and a sharp increase in terrorist attacks across the country.
China, Turkey, and Qatar facilitated dialogue between Pakistan and Afghanistan, but every round of talks ended without tangible results. The Afghan Taliban consistently maintained that they would not take action against the TTP and claimed that TTP operatives present in Afghanistan were not responsible for attacks inside Pakistan. Instead, they alleged that TTP members already residing within Pakistan were carrying out these attacks.
Pakistan provided audio recordings, video evidence, and location-based intelligence to friendly countries, demonstrating how terrorists were infiltrating Pakistan from across the Afghan border with the assistance of the Afghan Taliban. However, these efforts failed to produce any meaningful outcome, as the Afghan Taliban did not move an inch from their stated position despite the presentation of irrefutable and credible evidence.
Since Russia signed a military cooperation agreement with the Afghan Taliban, the latter have become more emboldened, openly allowing terrorists to enter Pakistan while claiming that all countries maintain friendly relations with Kabul except Pakistan. This strategic development is perceived by many in Pakistan as having boosted the morale of the Afghan Taliban, making them more aggressive toward Islamabad.
Security analysists believe Afghan Taliban believe that increasing pressure on Pakistan through continued terrorist activity will eventually compel Islamabad to accept their demands, including expanded trade arrangements, leniency toward undocumented Afghan nationals residing in Pakistan, and the continuation of cross-border smuggling activities. Pakistan, however, has rejected what it considers unreasonable demands and has maintained that it will continue to safeguard its national interests and security.
Last three years had been dreadful for Pakistan and Afghan Taliban continue to host and send terrorists in Khost, Kunar and Paktika provinces where dozens of camps of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Islamic State-Khorasan Province (ISKP) terrorists are operating.
Pakistan has experienced a significant resurgence in terrorism since 2023, with terrorist violence, suicide bombings and attacks reaching levels not seen in recent years, according to data compiled by the South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP), the Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) and the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).

The rise in violence has been driven primarily by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Islamic State-Khorasan (IS-K), and Baloch groups, including the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF).
According to SATP data, terrorism-related fatalities continued to rise after 2022. 2025 marked one of the deadliest years according to PIPS report.
During 2025, 699 terrorist attacks were recorded nationwide, 1,034 people lost lives while 1,366 were injured. Compared with 2024, terrorist attacks increased by 34 percent, fatalities by 21 percent, and injuries by 25 percent.
Security forces remained the primary target of militant groups. Out of the total attacks, 455 incidents (65 percent) were directed against security forces and law-enforcement agencies.
A total of 437 security personnel were martyred including police officers, army personnel, Frontier Corps members and Levies officials.
PIPS reported that TTP and ISKP terrorists carried out 454 attacks, caused 679 deaths and 881 injuries. Main actors of Indian-sponsored and Afghan Taliban hosted religious organisations are Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group (HGB), Lashkar-e-Islam and Islamic State-Khorasan (IS-K). Experts claim that these are such brand names and sole organization behind is Afghan Taliban (all groups).
Baloch terrorists were responsible for 234 attacks, 339 deaths and 476 injuries. Brand names of Baloch groups are Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) and Majeed Brigade.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan remained most and the worst-hit districts included North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Bannu, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Peshawar and Khyber. May 2026 was the worst in 2026—128 terrorist’s attacks comparing to 101 attacks in April 2026.
Civilian deaths nearly doubled in May 2026 compared with April, while security force fatalities increased by 143 percent. This marked a significant increase from the single suicide attacks recorded in both March and April 2026.
According to available information, terrorists are equipped with commercial drones, thermal imaging devices, Night-vision equipment, advanced rifles, long-range sniper weapons and sophisticated communication systems. Analysts believe many of these weapons originated from stockpiles left behind in Afghanistan following the 2021 U.S. withdrawal. The latest assessments indicate that India and Taliban are not alone in the game now rather Israel is also providing drones, technical support and resources to harm Pakistan since 2025 when Pakistan defeated India in war.
