Two men charged over shooting at wake in St Mary

The St Mary police have charged two men in relation to a shooting at a wake along Gully Road in Mason Hall.

Charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, shooting with intent, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony are 29-year-old Errol McFarlane, otherwise called ‘Beaver,’ and 36-year-old Christopher Melbourne, otherwise called ‘Chase,’ both of Gully Road in Grants Town in the parish.

Reports from the Port Maria police are that about 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 23, an argument developed between McFarlane and a man.

According to the police, the man's relative intervened in an attempt to quell the dispute, but he was reportedly attacked by Melbourne, resulting in a physical altercation.

During the fracas, McFarlane intervened, pulled a firearm from his waistband, and fired multiple shots in the direction of the man.

It was further reported that McFarlane handed the firearm to Melbourne, who also fired multiple shots, according to the police.

The man escaped unharmed and later made a report to the police.

An investigation was launched.

The two men were later arrested.

They were subsequently charged after an identification parade on Saturday, November 29.
