Ocho Rios man dies after being severely beaten

A man who was severely beaten by a group of men in St Ann has died in hospital.

Dead is Shawn Geminson, otherwise called 'Shanty', a 48-year-old singer of Eltham in Ocho Rios.

Reports are that about 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, Geminson was attacked at a house by three men.

The police later responded to a report about an injured man seen lying on a roadway.

He was assisted to the St Ann's Bay Regional Hospital, where he was admitted.

He subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

As a result, the case has been upgraded from assault occasioning grievous bodily harm to murder. 

The Ocho Rios Criminal Investigation Branch is probing the incident.
