St Elizabeth police seize illegal firearm during operation

The St Elizabeth police seized an illegal firearm during an operation in the parish on Saturday as part of their ongoing crackdown on prohibited weapons. No one was arrested in connection with the find.

According to the police, the seizure was made about 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, during an operation in the Oxford community. A team of officers conducted a search of a premises and an adjoining lot when the firearm was discovered.

During the search, the police found a black and grey one-strap Champion bag containing a pistol fitted with an empty magazine. The serial number on the firearm had been erased.

Head of the St Elizabeth Police Division, Superintendent Coleridge Minto, said the recovery of illegal firearms remains a top priority.

“The continued recovery of illegal firearms remains a priority for the St Elizabeth police division, as these weapons pose a serious threat to the safety and security of our communities,” Minto said.

The seizure forms part of ongoing operations across St Elizabeth aimed at curbing gun-related crime and improving public safety.
