American man who turned out to be fugitive fined $10,000 for overstaying
· The GleanerAn American man who overstayed his time in Jamaica, and who turned out to be a fugitive wanted for a shooting in the United States, was today fined $10,000 or 20 days' imprisonment in the St Catherine Parish Court.
Twenty-three-year-old Saeed Singh pleaded guilty and was sentenced.
He was taken back into custody by the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) to be processed for his alleged involvement in the shooting incident in the US.
The court heard that on Monday, February 24, police operatives assigned to the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) conducted an operation on Old Harbour Road in St. Catherine.
During the operation, Singh was observed washing motor vehicles.

He was accosted, and checks revealed that he had been in Jamaica for more than 12 months, exceeding the time allowed in the country.
He was subsequently charged for overstaying his time.
While the matter was in court, it was revealed that Singh was wanted for a shooting that occurred in New York, United States.
