Moment Brown University suspect WALKS PAST police after shooting

The Brown University shooting suspect is seen in shocking new footage casually strolling past police officers working at the scene.

Federal investigators on Tuesday released a video timeline of the unidentified suspect in the moments before and after gunfire rang out on December 13, killing two students and injuring nine others.

At the end of the five-minute compilation of security and Ring camera footage, the suspect can be seen calmly walking in front of a Providence police car just after 4pm on the day of the massacre.

Then, at around 4:07pm the footage showed the person of interest easing through a wooded area near campus.

He seemed to be in no rush and completely unalarmed by prying eyes, cops or cameras.

The footage was released as police face heavy criticism for their response to the shooting, after authorities released a person of interest in the case and announced that the suspect is still at large.

Now, there may be evidence that he escaped right under their noses.

Criminal profiler John Kelly told Fox News that the school was a 'soft target' for the killer and emphasized how little law enforcement knows.

'They don't know if he's 500 miles away or five doors down the street,' he said.

'What they do know is he's a psycho killer and mass shooter. If they don't get him, there is a lot of fear for people living there, and there will be a lot of scared kids returning to campus.'

The smug suspect appears to wander neighborhoods adjacent to the university for hours leading up to the shooting.

The video timeline began around 2pm and traces him until after the horrific attack on the classroom.

The person of interest traveled throughout several Providence streets, including Hope, Cooke, George and Benevolent.

The man had his arm suspiciously tucked away in his jacket at points in the footage.

The suspect wore a black hat, pants and a jacket as he paced through nearby neighborhoods. He also sported a dark gray camouflage mask.

Providence police are offered a $50,000 reward for any information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the shooter.

They described the suspect as 5'8 with a stocky build. Witnesses assessed him to be in his 30s, according to the FBI.

Some terrified Rhode Island residents speculated that it would be years before he was caught.

Rhode Island School of Design teacher Gloria-Jean Masciarotte told NBC News that she shouldn't feel scared in her own home.

'I think that is going to go unsolved for many years,' she said. 'And I think that one of the sad things is, I hope it doesn't impact the community life and our openness and our sharing.'

The gunman opened fire at a weekend study session on the seventh floor of the Baris and Holley building.

Brown's physics and engineering departments are housed there.

Shots rang out at the Rhode Island Ivy League university at 4:03pm. Police issued a shelter-in-place at 4:22pm.

The second victim was 18-year-old Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov

Officials said that the shooter easily walked into the building because it was left unlocked during final exams.

Remaining classes and final exams at Brown University have been cancelled.

Ella Cook, a 19-year-old sophomore from Alabama, was killed in the attack. The second victim was 18-year-old Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, who hoped to become a neurosurgeon.

An initial suspect was taken into custody on Sunday morning but was released the same evening when police could not substantiate the evidence.

Providence Police and Rhode Island State Police are working with the FBI to track down the shooter.
