The Traitors star breaks silence on dramatic round table banishment

The first person to be banished from The Traitors has been revealed.

The prime time BBC show returned this week for the third series, with host Claudia Winkleman back at the helm hosting.

During Friday night's episode, the 21 players were in the middle of casting their votes to uncover who they thought the Traitor was - after Netty became the first one to be 'murdered'.

Child liaison officer Judy received the most votes from the round table and was sent home after her fellow contestants were convinced she was a Traitor.

As she stood in front of the other contestants who watched on in anticipation, she said: 'I'd just like to say you've been absolutely amazing'.

She continued: 'I've had an absolute blast and I'm just me', before revealing: 'I am...a Faithful'.

After Judy left the room, 'Traitor' Stephen addressed everybody saying: 'I appreciate a herd of us went for Judy tonight, but I don't think it's fair to assume that none of these people came to their own decision on why they went for that choice'.

However Judy's 'secret' daughter Roxy did not agree after account manager Sam seemingly spearheaded the idea of Judy being a Traitor and made a convincing statement

She said: 'I think there are some people who have been swayed perhaps by others, that's all I'm saying.

She added: 'Not everybody. Some people have made their own decisions , but this wouldn't have happened if people weren't swayed.'

Later on, in private she spoke to the camera saying: 'I really feel that Sam played quite a pivotal role in mum's banishment and if Sam's a Faithful, he's done the Traitors a favour tonight.'

She the confidently added: Mum's game might be over, it was cut short, but mine is only just starting and it's gonna spur me on.'

Judy, 60, adopted Roxy, 32, when she was four years old and the pair shocked viewers in the opening episode when they revealed their relationship, admitting they planned on keeping it a secret.

Now out of the castle, Judy told The Sun: 'We had a bit of a strategy together, me and Roxy. I wanted to distance myself, but she kept gravitating towards me.'

'She had my back. I’m willing her on, and I know she’s got it in her to go all the way. I didn’t have a strategy. I just thought there’s no point in changing myself.

'I’m just going to play the game the best I can play it and enjoy it and have some fun, and that’s what I did.'

Elsewhere in Friday night's episode, the contestants faced a challenge set across the grounds of Ardross Castle.

Tasked with hauling three chariots over the hills, they raced to gather gold for the prize fund, while those who remained seated on the thrones upon reaching the castle earned a shield granting them immunity from murder.

The instalment closed on a tense cliffhanger as the Traitors -  Stephen, Hugo and Rachel received a fresh list of potential victims from the Secret Traitor, leaving Ben, Reece and Maz all in danger.
