Iran war live: Trump threatens to 'obliterate' Tehran's power plants
by TOM LAWRENCE, NEWS REPORTER · Mail OnlineDonald Trump has threatened to 'obliterate' Iranian power plants - 'starting with the biggest one first' - if the Strait of Hormuz is not fully re-opened within 48 hours.
The US President issued the stark warning late last night - just one day after he was said to be thinking about 'winding down' the war.
It follows a fresh wave of missile attacks launched by Tehran towards Israel amid mounting fears about the regime's ability to strike European capitals.
More than 100 people have been wounded in southern Israel after strikes on buildings in the cities of Dimona and Arad.
Meanwhile Iran warned on Sunday it would target US energy infrastructure if Mr Trump carried out his threat.

Furious Trump issues threat to Iran demanding Strait of Hormuz is 'FULLY OPENED' in hours
President Donald Trump issued a stark and escalating ultimatum to Iran on Saturday night, warning that the United States will 'obliterate' its power infrastructure within hours unless a critical global oil shipping route is immediately reopened.
In a dramatic post on Truth Social, Trump demanded action in 48 hours on the strategically-vital Strait of Hormuz - a narrow waterway through which roughly one-fifth of the world's oil supply passes.
Trump faces increasing pressure to secure the strait as Iran's threats have effectively shut down the shipping lane, sending oil prices soaring.

VIDEO: Labour minister says 'we won't be dragged into Iran'
Steve Reed would not be drawn on whether the Government backs President Donald Trump's 48-hour deadline for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz.
He was repeatedly asked about his position appearing on Sky News's Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips programme, but only said the UK will not be drawn into a wider conflict.
"I think you need to ask President Trump about the things that President Trump is talking about," the Housing Secretary said.
Earlier on Sunday, Mr Trump wrote on Truth Social that Iran had 48 hours to "FULLY OPEN, WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz", or the US would "obliterate" Iran's power plants.

British nuclear-powered submarine arrives in the Arabian sea
A nuclear-powered Royal Navy submarine has reportedly arrived in the Arabian sea.
HMS Anson, which is fitted with Tomahawk Block IV land-attack missiles with a range of 1,000 miles and Spearfish heavyweight torpedoes, left port in Perth on March 6 and is believed to be taking up position in the deep waters of the northern Arabian Sea.
The move brings Iran directly within range of British missiles, after it was reported that Iranian missiles could reach London.
Iranian missiles were fired towards the British/ US base on Diego Garcia, the largest of the Chagos Islands.
The islands currently remain British sovereign
territory, but their distance from Iran has sparked concerns about the possible range of its weapons.

Steve Reed: 'We are capable of protecting this country'
Steve Reed has refused to say how close Iran's long-range missiles came to reaching Diego Garcia.
On Friday night, Iran fired two missiles towards the US/UK military base of Diego Garcia, sparking warnings about the range of Iranian weapons.
The island lies 2,360 miles from Iran, well beyond the 1,240 miles which was thought to be the outer limit of the regime’s reach.
IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said the range of the missiles posed a danger to the world, including European capitals.
However, the Housing Secretary appeared to suggest Israel's warning that Iran has developed long-range missiles capable of reaching Europe is exaggerated.
He told BBC's Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg programme: 'There is no specific assessment that the Iranians are targeting the UK or even could, if they wanted to.
'We have the finest military in the world. We are perfectly capable of protecting this country.'
Mr Reed said the Israeli Defence Forces' statement was 'conditional', adding 'there is no assessment to substantiate what's being said'.
