Jagan luring Vemireddy back into YSRCP?
by GREATANDHRA BUREAU · greatandhra.comAs the political atmosphere in Andhra Pradesh is gradually heating up, even though elections are still three years away, political parties have begun chalking out their strategies to outwit their rivals.
YSR Congress Party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy continues to assert that growing public dissatisfaction will bring his party back to power.
He has reportedly initiated efforts to bring back key leaders who had defected to rival parties ahead of the 2024 elections.
According to sources, the YSRCP leadership is trying to lure cash-rich Telugu Desam Party MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy back into the party. Vemireddy was earlier associated with the YSRCP and was considered close to Jagan.
He exited the party over seat allocation disputes in Nellore during the 2024 elections and later defected to the TDP. He went on to defeat YSRCP candidate V Vijayasai Reddy.
Sources indicate that YSRCP Rajya Sabha member Alla Ayodhya Ramireddy recently met Vemireddy and conveyed Jagan’s interest in bringing him back into the party. He reportedly suggested that Vemireddy meet Jagan once.
However, Vemireddy is said to have declined the offer for now, stating that he is being treated with respect in the TDP and sees no immediate reason to switch parties.
With two years having passed since the last elections and three more remaining before 2029, political observers question whether leaders would be inclined to shift affiliations at this stage.
While it remains unclear whether the outreach was directly initiated by Jagan, the development has reignited discussions about potential political realignments in Andhra Pradesh.
