Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested three suspects linked to armed robbery, kidnapping and drug trafficking, while also recovering firearms, ammunition and suspected illicit drugs.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the arrest in a statement sighted on Thursday.

He noted that operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), acting on intelligence, arrested two suspected armed robbers and kidnappers, Ogbonna Chinonso, 22, and Nnachi Cypril, 35, at a drinking spot along the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway on May 30.

Items recovered from them include a locally made revolver pistol, a cut-to-size double-barrelled gun, six rounds of 9mm ammunition and a live cartridge.

In a separate operation earlier the same day, police operatives raided a hideout in Trans-Ekulu, Enugu, where they arrested a suspected drug peddler, Izunna Ani, 36. Large quantities of substances suspected to be “Loud” and “Kolos” were also recovered.
