NANS backs Tinubu, Umahi after inspecting federal road projects
by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlineThe National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, following an inspection of federal road projects in Cross River State and along the Benue-Cross River axis.
The students’ body announced its decision on Saturday after completing an inspection tour to assess the quality and progress of the ongoing projects.
The delegation, led by the President of the NANS Senate, Senator Ibeabuchi Onyia, comprised national officers, zonal leaders, state executives and campus leaders.
The roads inspected included the Alesi-Ugep (Iyamoyung-Ugep) section in Cross River State, Sections 3A and 3B of the Calabar Coastal Highway, covering Chainage 0+000 to Chainage 65+000, and the Adikpo-Ajio-Teshe-Ada-Kyogen-Obudu Road linking Benue and Cross River states.
Onyia said the delegation found the projects to be progressing to a commendable standard, noting that the site crews demonstrated discipline and technical competence.
He said the projects had recorded steady and measurable progress, describing the Calabar Coastal Highway as particularly remarkable because of its scale and ambition.
“The completed roads would reduce travel time, connect border communities, open up farmlands and markets, and reduce accidents and the hardship faced by daily road users,” he said.
Onyia also commended the Federal Ministry of Works for its commitment to quality and professionalism in executing the projects.
